Mission Statement

Rainbow Homes provides ecumenical Christian housing and services for adults with cognitive disabilities, where they may grow personally and spiritually to reach their God-given potential, all while being nurtured in a home-like Christian setting.

· Spiritual Development
· Fostering life-long friendships
· Volunteerism
· Promoting independence

Self-determination

Affordable Supported Living

A home is a basic need, a vital part of our well being. Unfortunately, for many people who have disabilities (and for their loved ones), housing and care options are often limited and do not meet their individual needs.

Rainbow Homes offers an option for families in the Lansing/Jackson area - one where preferences and natural supports are encouraged as a complement to publicly funded programs. We offer basic supported living services designed especially for both women and men who can function semi-independently. Learning and growth are an important part of our community, and we encourage the development of new independent living skills.

Rainbow Homes blends a home-like atmosphere and nurturing support with the opportunity to achieve greater dignity and independence. Our goal is to help our residents succeed in supported independent living, especially for those embarking upon their first experience outside their family home. For those living in our community, we offer a private bedroom in a two bedroom apartment. Residents enjoy privacy but also have the companionship of others.

Partners

To meet the diverse support needs of Rainbow Homes, we work closely with community groups, families, and churches. We believe that these partnerships will use our resources most efficiently to provide the quality of life our residents desire and deserve. We also like to invite all family members and friends to participate in the Rainbow Homes community, by providing individual support to their loved ones.

In addition to the Christian observances within Rainbow Homes, residents are also encouraged to attend the church of their choice and to participate in available programs and activities. We also actively seek the involvement of many local area churches to provide volunteer assistance.

In Unity, Strength

We believe that by banding together with our community, we can meet the urgent and growing needs of persons who have a developmental disability. By working as partners with parents, families, and community groups, we can meet the need for homes of all types.

Our homes promote independence...

...help to foster life-long friendships...

...and sustain the Christian values, beliefs, and practices of the resident's own family.
